Stevie Richards got trained in the Iron Mike Sharp’s Wrestling School in New Jersey. In 1992, he started off his professional wrestling career with a match in ECW. Since then, he became one of the most noted stars in ECW. He was in the brand for a few years with some good matches and was earning a name for himself. Sometime later, he suffered a neck injury and announced his retirement from pro wrestling. However, he recovered after sometime, but didn’t get back to ECW as everyone expected. Instead, he went to join World Championship Wrestling (WCW). This move shocked a lot of people and made them question the legitimacy of the injury that Richards suffered. He was there for a couple of years and then got out of the company.
In 1999, Stevie Richards joined the WWF officially. He continued to wrestle for World Wrestling Federation with many fellow wrestlers and had some really memorable matches. He was wrestling with many up-and-coming stars during this period. Once he faced a young Chris Masters in a match, during which he suffered a legitimate injury. Masters hit him with such force that Stevie Richards’ nose bridge got broken and he went on to lose the match. He took some time off and repaired his nose and came back for a rematch with Masters, but lost it as well.
In 2005, he moved to the SmackDown brand of WWE and wrestled with famous stars such as Hardcore Holly, Vito, and Booker T. He had quite a few good matches during this period. During the SmackDown tenure, Stevie Richards used to lose quite a few matches, as part of the sell-out plan designed by the WWE.
ECW Career Of Stevie Richards
In 2006, he got drafted back to ECW, where he started his career. He felt more comfortable in ECW than any other brand, since he started off his career there and he is extremely comfortable with the antics followed in ECW. He has had some memorable matches with Hardcore Holly, Balls Mahoney, Rene Dupree, and many others.
