Joey Mercury World Wrestling Career
Adam Birch (Joey Mathews) started the World Wrestling career in MCW winning a number of matches. He was an active member of OMEGA, a North Carolina’s Organization run by the former wrestler’s Matt and Jeff Hardy.
After leaving Omega, he got national recognition and formed a team named as “the Badstreet Boys”. All the members in the tag team “Badstreet Boys” wrestled together in multiple smaller promotions and made in total nine independent championship reigns. During the year, 2000 all the team members joined Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and were framed as charged in January 2001. After some days passed York and Matthews had some differences in World Championship Wrestling before the end of the company in March 2001. After this they changed their names and were involved in the independent circuit and started competing in Ultimate Pro Wrestling and Phoenix Championship Wrestling. After York announced his retirement from the Wrestling World, their team was dissolved and it left Matthews to wrestle in single matches like Total Nonstop Action and Ring of Honor Wrestling.
WWE Joey Mercury
During the year, 2004, Matthews signed on a developmental deal by WWE and assigned to the Ohio Valley Wrestling where he formed a tag team with Nitro and Melina naming the team as MNM. The team wrestled in OVW for a period of one year and won the Ohio Valley Wrestling Southern Tag Team Championship before becoming popular with the SmackDown! Brand where he was renamed Joey Mercury.
During the year, 2006 MNM lost the tag team title to London and Kendrick, where Nitro and Melina pounced on Mercury thereby breaking the team. Afterwards they were removed from the SmackDown! brand and were reappeared on RAW brands. The main reason why all of them pounced on Mercury is that he was tested positive on a drug test. Because of this incidence Joey Mercury stayed away from wrestling television for more than a period of six months during which period he underwent a drug rehabilitation course at College Park Georgia.
Mercury actually stayed away from the WWE television for a period of six months. During that period he underwent a drug rehabilitation Course in Park Georgia College, which has got exclusive contract with the WWE.
After undergoing the rehabilitation course, he came back to the Wrestling world and again formed a team with Nitro and Melina and appeared in several matches individually and also in teams.
