Born on Jauary 3, 1950, Jim Ross or James William Ross in real life is ‘Good ol JR’ or simply JR. He is one of the best wrestiling announcers in WWE history. He acquired Bell’s palsy and it worsens after his mother’s death. That time he already took a break from RAW. He is now known for his identity, the black Resistol cowboy hat. Early Career Of Jim Ross
He started early that even in his college days he was already commenting on their college radio.
1986 - He worked at Mid-South territory under Bill Watts. He was given the game between Ricj Flair and Ted DiBiase for his first major assignment. With is hard work and perseverance, he was able to improve well in his talent. The company was later on renamed to World Championship Wrestling (WCW) when he already left the company.
World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment
1993 – This is the start of Jim Ross’ work for World Wresting Federation. He marked his debut in WrestleMania IX , and later on worked as commentators on WWF’s pay-per-view events and SummerSlam 1993. He was later promoted to be the host of Radio WWF together with Johnny Polo. They get to talk with WWF Superstars and their fans.
1994 – He gets to host the Royal Rumble for the Radio WWF. He fired on February 11, 1994 and became an announcer for Smoky Wrestling and the NFLs Atlanta Falcons.
Career In Professional Wrestling
1994 – He was temporarily rehired to do some commenting jobs during the summer. He has released a few months after only to be rehired again in 1995.
1995 – It was with WrestleMania XI where he again worked.
1996 – He joined the primary announce team of the WWF progamming in summer.
1996. In September, he was linked with Diesel and Razor Ramon when they left WWF for World Championship Wrestling. He made announcements that he will bring the two back to WWF. Weeks later he made a different statement telling that he was the man behind those leaving the company. He said that he was doing it because he wanted to revenge to them for treating him improperly.
1997 – After being the host of shows like Superstar, Monday Night RAW Shotgun Sundays Night Action Zone and Smack down, he again became the main voice of Survivor Series.
1998 – He had a break from RAW because his mother died and his Bell’s palsy has worsened. He only went back to work in time for WrestleMania XV.
2003 – Present
In 2003, he was fired because of his illness. He had to seek medical attention for his colon surgery.
While recuperating, he still does some anchoring for the RAW and Saturday Night’s Main Event. Then he got back his play-by-play job on RAW in 2006. His contract with WWE expired in October 2006. He didn’t sign up for a new one.
