To say about his Wrestling career, he is not so active wrestler. Currently he is working as color commentator on World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Friday Night SmackDown!
He is largely known as a popular and successful stock market guru when he is outside the ring. He worked for the Northeast Securities as a consultant giving his valuable suggestions. He wrote a book on financial planning (Have More Money Now) which were sold at great numbers in the market because of its positive reviews of financial planning. Apart from performing for the WWE, during the weekends, he used to hosts a talk radio program for the Talk Radio Network discussing about his amicable political views.
JBL's World Wrestling Career
Before starting his professional wrestling career, he was a football player for his hometown University "Abilene Christian University". Afterwards he was trained by the professional wrestler Brad Rheingans and started his Wrestling career in the Global Wrestling Federation in the year 1992 at Texas. His first crush was with Johny Hawk. He formed a team with Bobby Duncum, Jr., and won the Tag Team Championship title and the success could not leap for a longer period since the team lost the same title to Ian and Axl Rotten. Individually while wrestling, he won the NWA North American Title defeating Kevin Von Erich but during the same year he lost the NWA title to "The Hammer".

During the year, 2006 his hands were injured at the hands of Chris Benoit in a 6-man tag team match edition of SmackDown! and was away from wrestling for some days. Later on the official website of WWE (WWE.com) announced that JBL underwent successful surgery and will be available for wrestling fans sooner. After the return JBL wrestled with Chris Benoit and defeated him for the WWE U S Championship at WrestleMania 22. But during the same year, he lost the US title to Bobby Lashley. During the same period he made another attempt to the world title stating that he would quit SmackDown! if he lost the match. Unfortunately he lost the match and bade farewell to the SmackDown! episode.
