High School Wrestling

Beth Phoenix started wrestling in high school. She was the North East Freestyle champion of the women’s division in the year 1999. She went onto in many other amateur wrestling titles until she graduated from high school and went on to a professional school for wrestling, at the same time enrolling in a college in Buffalo, New York.

She finally made her way to the Ohio Valley Wrestling farm where she was initially introduced as Chris Masters’ girlfriend. She was shortly transferred to RAW and just sporadically appeared on Ohio Valley Wrestling scenes. Many angles were tried on her including the one where she was Chris Masters’s longtime girlfriend but they did not work out too well. She had several shots at the Women’s World Championship title but was not able to achieve this. She finally captured the Ohio Valley Wrestling Women’s Championship title from Serena but this was short lived because just exactly a month after she got it, she lost it. Her opponent at the time was Katie Lea in a gauntlet match. , and she lost the title of Ohio Valley Wrestling Women’s Wrestling Champion.

The year 2006 was an eventful year for Beth Phoenix as she came out as a face for on RAW. She saved Trish Stratus from a beating from Mickie James and earned James’s ire because of this. She continually ran into and had feuds with Mickie James during her RAW stint. James being a heel at that time continually harassed and tried to get her revenge with Beth Phoenix.

On June 5 of 2006, Beth Phoenix theme was changed and this must have been an unlucky charm to her because right after the change she fractured her mandible. Due to the injury, Beth Phoenix had to recuperate and rest for approximately two months. In the year 2007, she has returned and this time she is a heel and the partner of Jillian Hall in a tag team.
